Giving A Man A Fish Versus Teaching A Man How To Fish

If you teach your child to reason and think for themselves, if they are then lead astray they will only have themselves to blame. But if you teach them to blindly trust authority by answering "because I said so" or because "the rabbi, pastor, or imam says so", or even because "the Talmud, Bible, or Quran says so", instead of sound logic when they ask you for reasons "why", then you are responsible if they are eventually lead astray by a trusted authority, like an evil priest.
